Fire in the Sky is a film based on a True Story. A true story based on an Alien Abduction which happened back in 1975 where 6 loggers travelling back from a contracted job play witness to an unbelievable event. They see a red light which they describe as a .fire in the sky.. As they get closer to the strange light, one of the six, Travis Walton (D.B.Sweeney), leaves the vehicle they are travelling in, to investigate the strange phenomenon hovering above. A spotlight beams down on him and hurls him through the air, and he is left (what looks like for dead) there in the middle of a clearing below the UFO above.
What happens from then on is of no surprise; the others panic and get the hell out of there, his best friend Mike Rogers (Robert Patrick), returns to retrieve his mate after feeling a bit of guilt. Travis. body had disappeared. From then on you see a bit of drama as the town.s people and law look to blame the remaining 5 for Travis. disappearance.
Five days go by and Travis returns, naked in the pouring rain in a state of shock and not his usual self. From here on we see Travis. flashbacks and see what happened to him on the UFO. His relationship with his best friend Mike falls apart.
The movie is quite an entertaining one, with strong performances from the films leading actors and being based on a True story it gives the film that extra edge. If you like the X-Files or are generally into Alien beings etc, then this film will satisfy. |
So how does this DVD Scrub Up?
The Video transfer is very good. It is presented as 16:9 anamorphic widescreen, but the actual movie is presented in 2:35 with black bars, which help preserve the film feeling. The detail level is high, the colour is brilliant. Overall the quality of the video Transfer is impressive.
Layer transition occurs at 52 mins 15 secs and is not very noticeable.

Audio is in one word . surprising. I found the English Dolby Digital 5.1 audio to be crisp, clear and makes fantastic use of the rear channels, especially through the alien abduction flashback scenes. A very impressive Audio track.
Other Audio options available are Czech, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Hungarian.
