There isnt a lot to be said about this DVD but
Ill do my best. This is one a several of the ABC sound scape series and has no
narration or story at all it is merely an hour of spectacular scenery accompanied some
recognisable music from the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra.
The music includes:
J S Bach: Air from the Suite in D
J S Bach: Finale from Brandenburg Concerto no 3
Grieg: Morning Mood from Peer Gynt
Lyadov: Russian Folk Songs (excerpts)
Mozart: Eine kliene Nachtmusik (excerpts)
Pachelbel: Canon in D
Rachmaninov: Vocalise
Ravel: Pavane Pour Une Infante Defunte
Vivaldi: Four Seasons (excerpts)
The scenery is from a northwestern area of Tasmania known as the Tarkine. While I have
never been there I have heard it is very beautiful from others in my family who have
visited it.
So how does this transfer hold up?

VIDEO
The 4x3 video transfer is close to perfect, there are no mpeg or film
artefacts and only a few small instances of what looks like shimmering. Other than that I
have no complaints. The colour spectrum is broad and rich and the spectacular photography
constantly reminds me of home.
AUDIO
Theres also not much to say on the audio track. The Dolby
Digital audio track was also very impressive given that entire track is musical
or having some natural sound effects there is only a little use of the surrounds and the
bass channel to support this. Other than that the audio is of a good quality and is very
easy listening.
