Love and sex was not something I sat down to seriously, but really sat down expecting some thing cute and entertaining without having to think too much. I wasn’t disappointed and I really quite enjoyed the film. It reeked of many other romantic comedies and clichéish one-liners but was really just a bit of quick light entertainment for me.

Famke Janssen plays Kate a depressed and self pitied woman who written an article for a woman’s magazine on relationships. Kate’s article however reflects the way she currently fells about men and really isn’t "perky" enough for the magazine. So she sets about writing something a little happier. From here the film progresses to a series of flash back of the past relationships, starting with her first kiss and moving on through every failed relationship she’s had. The one man who stands out though is a dramatic shock painter Adam (Jon Favreau) who is not only quirky but is obviously madly in love with Kate and insanely Jealous of every other man as she tries to move on from him.

Of course the end comes down to which man does she choose

So how does this transfer hold up?

VIDEO
The 1.85:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Transfer was really quite good. Given that the film is a meagre 80 minutes long I didn’t expect there to be a lot of effort in the transfer.

The images are for the most exceptionally sharp and clear but there is a tendency between shots for grain to appear as in the grain is more noticeable at the end and beginning of a scene rather than consistently throughout.

Shadow detail is faultless at all times and the colour palette is also presented beautifully with rich highly saturated colours complimented with some softer natural tones when required.

I was generally very impressed with the transfer. Although not perfect it was certainly better than I expected.

AUDIO
The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio track was also very good but did have its failings. The film is predominantly dialogue driven and most of the time the dialogue was very concise. There were however the occasional times when the dialogue became difficult to hear and lacked the audio quality.

The soundtrack was also quite good. I was never distracted or really impressed with the soundtrack but it did a good job of complimenting the film.

The surround channels were used sparingly to support the score and some of the directional effects and the subwoofer was pretty much silent for the entire film.
