| I just received confirmation from Roadshow about some of
their upcoming releases on DVD. November
is going to be a big month for DVD with not only some of the great titles from Warner
making there way on Region 4, but Roadshow will be stepping up to the plate with equally
impressive DVDs, several of which us DVD'ers having been drooling about for a Long time.
Roadshow's November line up starts of with the Long Kiss Goodnight
& Turbulence, both to be released early NEXT week (2nd Nov).
As previously mentioned, BOTH these DVDs are Dual Layered, 16:9
Enhanced, DD5.1 and MPEG5.1, and will
carry a RRP of $34.95....
This will be followed up with Another New Line Flick, The Wedding Singer
(with a few extra goodies) which will also be 16:9 Enhanced with DD5.1
& MPEG5.1 audio. As previously mentioned on DVD Net this DVD will be a
sellthru instead of the originally planned rental, followed by sellthru, and will also
carry a RRP of $34.95 (well done Roadshow!!!).
Last, but not least is PULP FICTION. This one will be
finished with mastering and duplication in about 1 month...so will be released a short
time after in RSDL as it runs to near 150 minutes.....
So there you have it.....I can see a lot of us totally BLOWING our DVD budget big
time in November....

I made a few phone calls today to try and get to the bottom
of the Glitch many have experienced with Warner's Region 4 version of The
Fugitive. According to both Brisbane and Sydney offices, an e-mail was sent
around yesterday saying that the Fugitive is to be deleted from the current release as the
problem is being tracked down. At this Stage Warner Australia is not sure if the
problem occurred from the USA mastering or the Australian Duplication of this DVD.
That is all that is known at present, but at least Warner are aware of this DVD
Glitch. So as to whether a re-master is needed, or some replacement copies need to
be made at the Aussie plant is uncertain...stay tuned...
I also phoned CIC in Brissy to see if
anything had eventuated with the release of Universal and Paramount DVDs for
Region 4 and while the chap I normally speak to wasn't there I was able to
find out that CIC are soon to release a statement detailing a 3rd Party that will be
releasing DVD's for them. Unfortunately that is all I was able to find
out....hopefully more will follow shortly :-)

Okay so it's no longer a rumour, Roadshow are
about to FINALLY release Long Kiss Goodnight and Turbulence
and this will be within the next 2 weeks. Both DVDs are 16:9 Enhanced, and have
MPEG5.1 and DD5.1 Audio tracks. BUT the best part is that BOTH these DVDs are in
fact Dual Layered. Roadshow have been tinkering with the Dual Layered Technology for
a few months now and are finally convinced that it's all in working order, hence the MAJOR
delay in these 2 titles (with LKGN being delayed since Chrissy....'97 and Turbulence since
May '98). As to other DVD features I'm still waiting to hear back on that....but I
guess this info is a great start...
