Upcoming Roadshow DVDs
With their being a truckload of Roadshow and Columbia DVD listings today,
you'll have to drop by the Roadshow Page to get the specs on upcoming DVDs like, Little
Nicky, Chocolat, Lost Souls, Family Man, Miss Congeniality, Wedding Planner, Highlander :
End Game and Bamboozled.
Little Nicky
is coming with a DTS track..yay (something even the USA release didn't get!),
whereas The Family Man has only a Dolby 5.1 mix. The USA release
thru Universal got a DD5.1 and DTS5.1 (i don't see this sorta film as really needing DTS
though...do you?). And it's good to see our version of TFM still also gets the THREE audio
commentaries.
Also out in the months ahead. (no pun intended:) Highlander : End Game
. You know, they came up with such a great tagline in the first Highlander and it's
a pity they didn't take their own advice before hacking up 3 more sequels,....there
can be only one!
OH and these DVDs Are Anamophic Widscreen.Roadshow DVD Release Schedule
We also have some Menu shots of the
above mentioned DVDs (with press releases)
C olumbia August DVD Releases
Looks set to be a pretty big month for
Columbia/Universal DVDs.
As much as I loathed their Lead title, you can't deny it's
popularity at the boxoffice, and i expect the DVD release of HANNIBAL to
eat up your cash when it hits stores also.
Coming as a 2 disc set, the movie has received the Anamorphic Widescreen treatment, and
the audio can be heard in either Dolby 5.1 OR DTS 5.1!!!!! The 2nd disc is loaded to
the hilt with goody goodies :)
Arnie also makes his way to DVD, but NOT with the "gotta have" True Lies, but
rather The 6th Day.
When released in the USA, there was a bit of controversy over the DVD release as many of
the extra features were taken off
(some say at the request of one of the film's stars...hmmm, but who really knows :)
The Addtional Extras NOT found on the USA version, BUT are contained on our Region 4
version are listed in BOLD below
6th Day DVD Extras

Jerk (full frame)

You KNOW it's Safe to Go Back in
the Water
For a while there I honestly thought the Jaws franchise would never end and
for now they've stopped at Number 4. (give 'em a few more years though :)
Sometime after July Universal Plans to release the remaining 3 jaws films to DVD.
All 3 will feature Anamorphic Widescreen Transfers, and #2 will
have a few good features. No Audio Specs have been announced at this time, but
chances are VERY slime that any of these will get a 5.1 remix like the original Jaws did.
JAWS 2 will contain a "Making Of" Documentary, John Williams Featurette,Keith
Gordon Featurette, Joke with the Director, TV Inserts and the Original Theatrical Trailer.
JAWS 3 and JAWS: THE REVENGE will contain their Original Theatrical Trailers.
While Cast Away is
another DVD in the Growing Trend of Rental First DVDs (even with the Double Disc USA
version being widely available as Sell Thru right now!...hello!) unofficial specs
for the 2 disc set due out, way too many months later are as follows Audio Commentary,
Making Of, Interview with Tom Hanks, Several Documentaries and Featurettes, Storyboard to
Film Comparisons, Conceptual Artwork and Trailers. It will contain 5.1 Audio (unsure if DTS is one) and it be
an Anamorphic Widescreen transfer.
Even DVDs can get Hitched

More Deceptive than Agatha Christie
Contrary to popular belief a few of the June DVDs from Universal were said to

Murder on the Orient Express AND Evil Under the Sun BOTH sport Anamorphic
Widescreen Transfers (and they actually look pretty damn good for their age to)

The Lie, The WHOLE Lie and nothing BUT
Some time ago we caught wind that Columiba
were prepping to release the mega cool blockbuster arnie/cameron joint venture, TRUE LIES,
to region 4 DVD and the biggest concern with this release was that as it was coming from
Universal, AND ALL UK Theatrical and Non-theatrical releases were CENSORED that we'd
get lumped with the same cut-up version that has pissed off so many brits...
Then a month or so ago, DVD
Net heard that the region 4 version will be an uncut version...YAY!
(and i certainly know i breathed a sigh of relief :)
Just the other day we received some more info on the upcoming region 4 DVD of True
Lies. Unlike the region 1 version, our u-beaut UNCUT PAL version
will get the Anamorphic Widescreen treatment (with an obligatory
5.1 mix) double yay!!!! (for good measure i also asked if we'd be getting a
DTS track as well seeing as the response i initally got simply said 5.1 audio, but no,
it's just getting the one english 5.1 track and it's Dolby Encoded) Upcoming DVD Menu Shots
All from Roadshow today.
David Attenborough's The Life of Birds, Wallace and Grommit (3 eps) and What Women Want
Stop the Press
So, you like check'n out birds do ya? Would you say you go for the Dark-Eyed Junco,
The Mountain Chickadee, or the Common Loon? No? Maybe you nest the other way and fancy the
likes of a Cockatoo or the Hairy Woodpecker.
Whatever your bird fetish the 3 disc 8 hour+ DVD box set of David Attenboroug's
The Life of Birds is just for you.
go
to "Bird of the Week" for more info on the above "genuine" bird names
While on the subject of birds, do you ever think that men
will be able to understand them....ever? I mean the Common Loon is undoubtedly the
most frequented of all birds but what can you do :) (oh i can see the hate mail flooding
in now, Cass stop using those aliases i know it's gonna be you :)
Due out later this month on DVD is the very funny smash hit What Women Want.
And for more looniness (and the right kind of looniness)
Roadshow are about to release Wallace and Grommit to DVD containing 3
episodes, A Grand Day Out, The Wrong Trousers, and A Close Shave (gotta love shaun the
sheep :)
